Ships sound their horns in support of seafarers

Today, we celebrate Day of the Seafarer, where we pay tribute to the seafarers who have done an extraordinary job over the past year.

The day was marked by ships all over the globe sounding their horns at exactly 12 pm in each time zone. The Danish Maritime Authority's inspection ship POUL LØWENØRN did the same.

The seafarers deliver the goods

“COVID-19 has been upon us for more than a year and a half, and the seafarers of the global fleet have played an important role in keeping the supply chains running. They have done so in a world that has been shut down, which has meant that the seafarers have had very long periods at sea and away from their families and homes. The seafarers deserve a very special tribute this year," says Andreas Nordseth, Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority.
