Interim indication of ongoing compliance in the case of the failure of a single monitoring instrument

In case of any malfunction that lasts more than one-hour, the Ship Owners or operator shall notify the ship’s RO (cc DMA cfs@dma.dk ) and port state authorities as soon as possible along with an explanation of the steps the Ship Owner or operator is taking to address the failure.

The RO is authorized to act on behalf of The DMA, with ref. to MEPC.1/Circ. 883 Guidance on indication of ongoing compliance in the case of the failure of a single monitoring instrument, and recommended actions to take if the EGCS fails to meet the provisions of the 2015 EGCS guidelines (Res. MEPC.259(68)). Recommend action shall meet the section 9-11 in the mentioned guidance.

The RO must without undue delay notify The DMA cfs@dma.dk (cc DEPA mst@mst.dk ) regarding temporary remedies and mitigating actions taken and where/when full rectification can be completed in accordance with Danish RO agreement section 15.

In case of emission exceedances

In case an EGCS is not in compliance leading to any emission exceedance or wash water not meeting the criteria, the Ship Owner or operator must inform the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (DEPA) of the incident at mst@mst.dk (cc DMA cfs@dma.dk) as soon as possible.
