Denmark is among the world's leading maritime nations and, overall, Danish maritime companies account for approximately one-fourth of Denmark's total exports.

About 61,000 persons are directly employed in Blue Denmark, and about 36,000 persons are indirectly employed in Blue Denmark. In total, this corresponds to 3.4 per cent of Danish employment.

All in all, Danish maritime companies account for approximately one-fourth of Denmark's total exports.

Blue Denmark consists of shipowners and shipping companies and a wide number of businesses whose activities emanate from international and Danish shipping. They are, for example, shipbrokers, ports and logistics companies.
