The harmonization of the rules of procedure sets the framework for the work of the Council and serves as guidelines for the committees, promoting an efficient and consistent decision-making process.
The IMO Gender Equality Award was presented to Ms. Karin Orsel from the Kingdom of the Netherlands for her significant contribution to gender equality in the maritime sector, including through MF Shipping Group and WISTA. Denmark had nominated Amalie Grevsen, Maersk for her valuable work in advancing gender equality in the maritime industry. Her commitment and leadership have had a great impact, and her efforts continue to inspire both in Denmark and internationally.
IALA’s transition from an NGO to a collaborating IGO with the IMO was approved. This transition opens the door for increased cooperation with the IMO, where IALA will play a central role in developing standards and promoting a safer maritime environment. Denmark looks forward to closer collaboration with IALA to strengthen the global harmonization of marine aids to navigation.
Finally, the Secretary-General expressed heartfelt thanks to Andreas Nordseth, Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority, for his valuable contributions and work, and expressed gratitude for his efforts in the maritime sector.
