Mandatory Ship Reporting Systems (MSRS) and Vessel Traffic Services (VTS)

In Denmark, there are two mandatory ship reporting systems and three vessel traffic services. Ship reporting systems and vessel traffic services are navigational safety measures aimed at contributing to maritime safety, safe and efficient navigation, and the protection of the marine environment.

BELTREP and SOUNDREP

In Denmark, there are two ship reporting systems approved by the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) – BELTREP and SOUNDREP. It is mandatory for ships of a certain size to report specific information to the BELTREP and SOUNDREP ship reporting systems.

The mandatory ship reporting systems BELTREP and SOUNDREP are operated daily by the 24-hour manned vessel traffic services VTS Great Belt and VTS Øresund.

Vessel Traffic Service in the Fehmarn Belt

Additionally, a temporary and voluntary vessel traffic service has been established in the Fehmarn Belt in connection with the construction of the Fehmarn Belt fixed link. The Naval Command under the Danish Defense Command operates the Danish vessel traffic services in the Great Belt, Øresund, and Fehmarn Belt.
