The Secretary-General of IMO is visiting Greenland

Secretary-General, Kitack Lim, from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is visiting Greenland on the 26-28 of August in order to gain insight on shipping in the Arctic region.

​The visit is organized by The Government of Greenland, Danish Shipping and Danish Maritime Authority.

The development within arctic shipping brings with it new business opportunities and challenges in regards to safety and marine protection, which both governments and businesses have to manage.

The aim of the visit is to present the role of the maritime sector in Greenland and the unique conditions concerning arctic shipping. The visit provides an opportunity for the key stakeholders of maritime affairs in Greenland and Arctic to meet and discuss opportunities and challenges.

The following organisations are participating in the visit. Government of Greenland, The Danish Meteorological Institute, Danish Geodata Agency, Danish Ministry of Environment and Food, Joint Arctic Command Greenland, Greenland Police, Royal Arctic Line, Danish Shipping and Danish Maritime Authority.
