Today we celebrate the lighthouses

Maritime administrations around the world are celebrating the World Marine Aids to Navigation (WAtoN) Day today.

On WAtoN Day, we focus on aids to navigation’s important role in guiding ships safely through our waters, as well as the work of developing new technological aids to navigation.

The Danish Maritime Authority is responsible for marine aids to navigation in and around Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. In the video above, you can see different Danish and Greenlandic lighthouses filmed with our drone. The drone is used in connection with maintenance tasks, e.g. to oversee the high facades of the lighthouses.
