Danish Candidate as Chair of the IOPC Funds Joint Audit Body

Former Deputy Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority, Mrs. Birgit Sølling Olsen, has been re-elected as a member of the Audit Body of the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds).

The election took place at the IOPC Funds’ Assembly which convened on 2 - 4 December 2020. On the same occasion, she was appointed as Chair of the Joint Audit Body.

Director-General of the Danish Maritime Authority, Andreas Nordseth:

“We are very happy and proud that Birgit has been elected to the Joint Audit Body and appointed as chair person.  It is a good choice the members have made. Birgit is widely recognized for her expertise within international mari-time law and has for many years contributed to creating international solutions during negotiations related to the IOPC Funds, where she among other things took lead on the drafting of the Supplementary Fund protocol”

The IOPC Funds

The IOPC Funds refers to the 1992 IOPC Fund and the Supplementary Fund. The Funds are linked to the 1992 Fund Convention and the additional Sup-plementary Fund Protocol as well as the 1992 Civil Liability Convention (CLC). The conventions constitute the international compensation regime, which covers in cases of oil spills at sea.
