The Consultative Shipping Group (CSG) consists of 18 countries in Europe, Asia and Canada that all adhere to the same values and principles of open and unimpeded access to international maritime markets. The group meets on an annual basis and, furthermore, works closely together with the Cotton Club that consists of the CSG countries' permanent representatives in Washington DC.

The main task of the CSG is to monitor and react to discriminating, restrictive or unilateral shipping policy measures. Dialogue meetings are also being held with the US Administration on shipping-related issues every second year, with the exchange of views, clarification and increased mutual understanding - but always so that the overall message about open markets and free trade is being retained.

Danish chairmanship of the Consultative Shipping Group

In September 2007, Denmark took over the chairmanship and the secretariat function of the CSG. Denmark is trying to continue the positive and informal spirit characteristic of the group's work and seeks to effectively use and develop the resources and possibilities available in the membership circle.
