Denmark Commits to Green Shipping Transition with New Funding

Published 19-02-2025

Denmark joins the GreenVoyage2050 donor group with a DKK 7.5 million contribution to support developing countries in reducing GHG emissions from shipping.

The Danish Maritime Authority participated last week in the Annual Donor Meeting of GreenVoyage2050 at the IMO headquarters in London.

Denmark has pledged approximately DKK 20 million to the IMO’s GHG TC Trust Fund, reinforcing efforts to assist developing countries in cutting greenhouse gas emissions from shipping and accelerate a just and equitable green shipping transition. Part of this funding is earmarked for activities under the GreenVoyage2050 programme, which provides technical assistance, capacity building, and policy support to maritime nations.

With Denmark joining as a donor, the GreenVoyage2050 programme strengthens its ability to drive real impact in the transition to a greener, more sustainable maritime industry in a way that leaves no country behind.
