What is a cookie?

Today, cookies are used by more or less all websites. In many cases, cookies may be necessary to supply a service on the website.

A cookie is a small data file that websites save on the user's device in order to be able to recognise the device. Cookies can, inter alia, be used to generate statistics on the use of the website.

A cookie is a passive file and cannot collect information on the user's website, spred computer viruses or other harmful programs.

Cookies on dma.dk

The Danish Maritime Authority will not save any cookies on your device unless you have accepted them on dma.dk.

If you accept cookies on the website of the Danish Maritime Authority, we use it to examine how the website is used so that we can improve the user friendliness. The information in the statistics has been anonymised and cannot be identified with named users.

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Siteimprove collects data on the traffic on dma.dk, such as which pages and elements are used the most by the users of the website. The web editors use the statistics from Siteimprove to improve the user friendliness on dma.dk.
     
  • Allow cookies registers that the user has accepted cookies and remembers this at the next change of page.

What will happen if I do not accept cookies from dma.dk?

The website of the Danish Maritime Authority does not save any cookies on your device unless you have accepted them on dma.dk. You can still use dma.dk without accepting cookies. However, the Danish Maritime Autority urge you to accept cookies so that we can draw up statistics on the website and, thereby, improve the user friendliness.

Why do we inform about cookies?

All Danish websites are obliged to inform about any cookies left on the user's equipment. This information must be in accordance with the provisions of the "Order on requirements for information and consent when storing and having access to information in the end-user's terminal equipment".
