Security level for Danish ships

The information on this page contains the Danish Defence Command's instructions for ships sailing under the Danish flag regarding the increase of the security level from 1 to 2 or 3, as well as recommendations to implement measures on board the ship in certain other areas.

The Danish Defence Command sets the security level for ships, which is communicated by the Maritime Assistance Service (MAS).

1. Security Level 1 requires that appropriate, minimal protective and security measures are always maintained.

2. Security Level 2 involves maintaining additional protective and security measures for a period due to an increased risk of a security-related incident.

3. Security Level 3 means that further specific protective and security measures must be maintained for a limited period when a security-related incident is probable or imminent, even if the specific target may not be identifiable.
